HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Our last prayer service was presented by a cast and crew of 200, and drew in over 2,000 people.
This dramatization of Christ's passion and death has touched many lives, and has helped spread the gospel message in our community.
1) SET CONTRUCTION & STAGE
These volunteers are the brains and the brawn behind setting the scenery throughout the church grounds for the entire production. Through their hard, dedicated work, the congregation is able to walk alongside Jesus on His way to Calvary as soon as they step foot on church grounds. Anyone who is available to lend a (strong) helping hand and is skilled in carpentry, building, and construction, is needed on this very important team.
Tasks include: inventory all stage and mural pieces for use during production; coordinate loading, pick-up, and drop-off of all stage and mural pieces; setup and take down all stage and mural pieces. *Construction experience preferred but not required.
2) AV & TECH
This crew helps to bring the entire prayer service to life, making all movemens and sound on stage accessible to the entire congregation. They respond to the creativity of the script, costumes, and cast, by operating sound levels, spot lights, and house lighting, while filming the entire production. Anyone interested in working behind the scenes to ensure that technicalities run smoothly is needed for this crew.
Tasks include: aid St. Paul AV Staff in setting up sound and lighting equipment; transport equipment around the church before, during, and after production; operate spot lights during dress rehearsals and production; film production.
3) COSTUME & PROPS
These skilled individuals are the artists behind transporting the congregation 2,000+ years ago to the time of the Passion. Each production, they do sizing for incoming and existing members, assign costumes to all cast members, and make adjustments to costumes as necessary. This team needs anyone who can lend a helping hand behind the scenes and is passionate about creating a unique experience for all WOTC attendees.
Tasks include: clean/launder costumes; coordinate pick-up and drop-off for costumes; inventory props for use during production; take sizes of all new WOTC cast members; assign and label costumes for all cast members; make alteration to costumes as necessary.
4) CAST
The WOTC Cast is the largest team of the production, where people of all ages can bring their talents and abilities to the spotlight. Even if you do not have a background in acting, there is a spot for you! These members deliver a moving rendition of the Passion, allowing the congregation to meditate on the deep spiritual message of Good Friday. If you want to play any part in this large production, we need you on this team!
Tasks include: attend all WOTC rehearsals (see schedule above); act in your assigned part of the play.
5) SOUP KITCHEN
This team is key in making WOTC a success, preparing a delicious meal for all attendees before it begins. They are the first glimpse of warm hospitality that all attendees encounter when arriving at the church on Good Friday. Anyone who is available to lend a hand, or help to prep and cook the meal is needed on this team.
Tasks include: coordinate pick-up and drop-off of all needed kitchen supplies for cooking; coordinate purchase and donations of all ingredients and supplies for the meal; setup tables and décor in Maher Hall; cook and serve meal to all attendees; cleanup Maher Hall and kitchen after service is completed.
6) VOLUNTEER COORDINATORS
These individuals operate entirely behind the scenes to ensure that all cast and crew members are accommodated on the day of the production. They keep the day schedule flowing smoothly by directing the cast and crew to their proper places at any given time. They are the key runners throughout the day who address the smallest details and are the backbone of this entire production.
Tasks include: understand and conduct the schedule for the day of production; direct all participants to their proper places according to timeline; coordinate meals with the Soup Kitchen team to deliver to participants before production; aid with setup and cleanup before and after production.
