All Confirmation One teens must select a canonized Saint. The Saint selected by the teen will be the name that they will be called upon during their Confirmation Ceremony. Once the teen has selected the Saint, the teen must answer and complete the questions on the "Saint Worksheet" below.
The Saint chosen should have a special meaning and bond with the teen. The teen is to look upon this Saint for guidance and strength. For example if the teen is an athlete, they might chose St. Sebastian, the patron saint of athletes. Then they will pray to St. Sebastian before each competition, before each practice to make sure they stay healthy and compete with the proper Christian heart. The Confirmation Saint also connects the teen closer to the church as a fully initiated member.
It is important to remember that as members of the Church, we are never been alone, as St. Paul said, ‘We are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses’ (Hebrews 12:1). These witnesses are the saints who continually intercede for us (CCC 956); in choosing a confirmation saint, we are choosing a special friend to intercede for us in heaven and after whom we can model our lives while here on earth.
While it is highly recommended that parents and sponsors guide the Con 1 teen during the selection process, it must be the teen who selects their Confirmation Saint.
THE SAINT WORKSHEET WAS ORIGINALY SCHEDULED TO BE DUE ON MONDAY, APRIL 27th. AT THIS TIME THE DUE DATE IS POSTPONED. IT IS MORE IMPORTANT FOR THE SAINT WORKSHEET TO BE COMPLETED CORRECTLY RATHER THAN QUICKLY. THOUGH THE DUE DATE IS POSTPONED, ALL CON 1 TEENS MUST STILL COMPLETE THE SAINT WORKSHEET.
